Aang can take 20+ Dai Li by himself for afters. That totals ~50+ Dai Li, and Azula is taken care of, along with Mai and Ty Lee. I underestimated Iroh too.

Having Zuko block the lightning for Katara was fine in my opinion. It took Zuko out of the fight, giving his companion something to do, while still showing him to be evenly matched.
